British knitwear manufacturer John Smedley has tasked Sheffield based design agency The Workshop with refreshing its brand identity.

The agency will review all aspects of the brand and will also create separate brand identities for the company’s menswear and womenswear for the first time in its history.

Dawne Stubbs, creative director at the Derbyshire-based knitwear company, said: “John Smedley is obviously quite a masculine sounding brand, so it will be interesting to see how The Workshop interprets the look and feel of the branding in terms of womenswear.”

Colin Scott, director of The Workshop, was previously responsible for the last major rebrand of John Smedley 18 years ago while the agency has also recently completed the design of John Smedley’s 2009 Spring/Summer brochure.
