The Homecoming Scotland TV advert featuring many Scottish celebrities is to run across the USA later this month.

The Homecoming ad, created by The Union was created to promote the Scottish Government’s year long campaign Homecoming Scotland which will attract tourists who feel a link to Scotland to visit the country.

The advert will run over the Burns weekend on travel and culture across several US channels including PBS, CNBS, the History Channel and Discovery Channel.

The advert includes the likes of Sir Sean Connery, Lulu, Amy MacDonald, Sandi Thom and Olympic gold medallist Sir Chris Hoy each singing a line from Dougie MacLean’s classic song ‘Caledonia’.

Ian McAteer, The Union group chairman, said: “I can’t think of a previous occasion when advertising from a Scottish agency has reached such a large number of viewers in the US. Given the economic climate predicted we hope that this campaign can help Scottish tourism to success in 2009."
