Train operator First TransPennine Express has launched a new website developed by Code Computerlove.

Manchester-based Code was originally appointed to review the firm's digital strategy and develop an online marketing campaign in April 2007. Consequently, Code was asked to develop the new site which boasts a more 'engaging' design and features customer and sales information more prominently.

Vickie Tennant, e-commerce manager at First TransPennine Express, said: "The new site is much more customer focused with detailed guides on our main destinations and prominence given throughout to key information such as timetables, live travel news and any journey disruption updates.

"We’re looking forward to the next phase which will see the site develop still further in a number of innovative and exciting ways.”

Code Computerlove managing director, Tony Foggett, added: "It has been rewarding to witness the role digital has played in the development of the business – the new site is informative, simple to use and was developed with the needs of the traveller firmly in mind."

First TransPennine Express launched in February 2004, and links the major cities of the north and runs direct services between Manchester, Glasgow and Edinburgh. Passenger numbers on its services have inceased from 13.5m to 22m a year since 2004.
