The Scottish Exhibition and Conference Centre (SECC) has appointed Davies Tanner to develop its brand and profile in the conference, exhibition and events industry.

The 18 month contract was awarded following a four-way agency pitch. Davies Tanner will work closely with Glasgow City Marketing Bureau who coined the city’s ‘Glasgow: Scotland with style’ campaign.

Commenting on the appointment, Ben Goedegebuure, director of sales, SECC, said: “This is an increasingly competitive market for both venues and destinations. As a city we’re all committed to investing in our sales and marketing to build awareness and capture market share. Davies Tanner has outstanding knowledge of the market and can help us direct our communications to achieve these objectives.”

The SECC is one of the primary event destinations in the UK and the iconic venue’s business is evenly split between the centre’s conference, exhibition and concert sectors and last year welcomed over 1.3m people.

“The SECC is a pivotal venue in bringing exhibition, conference and concert visitors to the UK,” commented Alistair Turner, PR director Davies Tanner. “Our job is to build on the business’ already outstanding reputation with domestic and international event buyers to attract more and more people to the centre.”
