TV viewers will be urged to call a dedicated hotline if they smell gas this Christmas, in a campaign created by Golley Slater Birmingham.

The campaign is being funded by the independent distribution networks of the National Grid, Northern Gas and Wales and West. It will break on Christmas Day and Golley Slater Birmingham is also responsible for its media buying.

Andy Walton, managing director of Golley Slater Birmingham, said: "The simplicity of the TV commercials will certainly stand-out during the Christmas and new year 'sale season'".

The TV advert will run into January on Central, Granada, Yorkshire, Tyne Tees, Border, HTV and West Country regions.

The campaign will also break on large format outdoor sites in north London on 29 December. Walton said: "The posters again focus on various noses and the number to call if you smell gas."
