The BDB team has continued to grow with three new employees, fluent in Dutch, Italian, Spanish and French, added in the last year. We also made a new appointment to the board - Céline Lhéritier-Knowles joined as head of production. As a key member of the BDB team for nine years, Céline brings production experience and capabilities which will enhance the strength of the board. Céline will concentrate on developing all aspects of BDB’s creative services from advertisements, direct communication and exhibition stands to multi-media. The onset of a turbulent global economy presented challenges for BDB and its clients. Despite this, it was an extremely busy year for BDB which led to positive results. At the end of May 2008, we reported significant growth of over 30% – a sharp increase on the previous year. As the business grows, we have focused on ensuring continued delivery of service excellence and results for all our clients. This has encouraged a significant investment in leading-edge software to knit together activity, results and reporting to give our clients even more efficient service and transparent reporting of costs and results. While business processes and service continue to be critical, so too does the need for creative and high impact communications campaigns. The largest challenge this year culminated in November with BDB providing advertising, media planning, media relations, newsletters, e-marketing and literature for nine clients at a major trade show in Paris – as well as designing and building exhibition stands for six of them. We aim to leverage our expertise as a full-service, international trade, technical and scientific marketing consultancy to further expand our client base within existing and related sectors. Given the current economic climate, we anticipate the coming year to be challenging but we aim to maintain our momentum and retain our strong position.

36 GOLLEY SLATER GROUP

Clients won: Army/COI - Road Traffic Accident Campaign (Screen grab attached) Worcester Bosch COI Climate Change for Welsh Assembly Govt Lloyds TSB Insurance Dept of Health/COI Anti Smoking Campaign Regional Tobacco control. The main changes to Golley Slater’s business this year has been the move to a 3 Division structure - comprising Advertising, PR and Marketing. This has, in turn, provided a greater opportunity to respond to Clients who are seeking greater integration across our respective Disciplines, and to provide Clients with easier access to our Network of 11 offices where they require a centrally managed strategy delivered locally. As a business now over 50 years old, this structural change has taken time and effort to get right, but now we’re seeing the fruits of this - -with clients such as Oli, The Army and Mitsubishi experiencing the benefits of a joined up approach beyond just pure advertising, and PR clients such as RICS, Hammerson and A4e seeing the benefits of our Network delivery. 2009 will not be an easy year for any of us, but Golley Slater is looking forward to it with some relish, as we are confident that our ability to flex our multi disciplined approach into our clients’ ever increasing challenges should make us a solid partner through this current recession”.

New Business has also been achieved with the following: Briggs Equipment, British Gypsum, Staverton Wealth Management, Esselte, FCL UK, Geodis Calberson, Kier Group, Legrand Electric, New Pig & OCR. However by far, our biggest account win involves having secured the pan European, through the line account for Linpac Allibert, reporting into the organisation’s Paris-based Head Office. Although we are still part of IAS SMARTS plc, IAS B2B Marketing trades as a stand alone brand with a new board of Directors led by Rob Morrice, now working full time in the role of MD. The recent successful period, we believe, is largely due to that change. The founder of IAS, Tim Hazelhurst, retiring and new management coming in. The recession in the building industry, one of our main specialist sectors. Moving into new commercial and professional B2B sectors. Successfully becoming a ‘pitching’ agency which IAS never was before. Win another million pounds of fees in new business. Move from Number 3 on the UK B2B Marketing list to Number 2. We are currently reviewing the structure of the business to ensure we can continue this growth, with plans to open further offices in Delhi, Dubai and Hong Kong. We now work with clients across Europe, Scandinavia, the Middle East, Asia, Australia and North and South America. Within the group we employ colleagues from every continent, offering clients a genuinely global service. Most recently Elmwood has opened an office in New York, so as you’d expect this has meant we’re recruiting new people. We’re also running a tag team approach where a team of our UK designers are rotating three weeks on and three weeks off, which is bringing new knowledge and experience back to the UK business too. The aim is to have a full-time team of locally-recruited talent and Elmwood originals by the end of the year. Our first new recruit is New Yorker Lola Traub who has been employed as account director. We’ve grown our team in all disciplines, bringing in new writers, designers, junior designers, artworkers, project managers, support staff and an HR manager to reflect the increasing business. Our digital team has also more than doubled and we now have a digital director, Simon Robson, with a well-travelled passport and strategic experience for Nokia, Mercedes and the International Red Cross. The general economic climate – helping clients to succeed in a very challenging climate; finding the best young talent; maintaining our position of brand specialists and fending off ‘integrated agencies’ whom many clients may turn to for ease in a tough climate; maintaining the Elmwood culture as we grow globally and, with the fast pace of growth this year, ensuring that we deliver 110% every day To continue our global growth; to continue to build fantastic client relationships and grow our scores for client satisfaction; to further grow a number of key clients into truly global clients; to maintain our all time no. 1 position in the DBA Design Effectiveness Awards; to achieve no. 1 over the last three years in the DBA Design Effectiveness Awards; achieve 3 stars in the Sunday Times Top 100 Companies to Work For, and be no. 1 communications agency; to improve our position in all awards; to specifically win North of England Design Consultancy of the Year; increase revenue by 15%; deliver average profit margin of 20% across core business; to implement our sustainability plan which includes environmental management systems which will help us to achieve ISO14001

We are pleased to say that nearly all of our clients are reporting like for like increases. The biggest challenges have been operating within a difficult financial climate. I think across the board projects have been delayed or put on the shelf this year, and we do expect more of the same in 2009. Continuing to deliver excellent design work for our existing clients is a priority. September was a record month for us, and we want to build on this success through to the end of the year and into 2009. We anticipate growth for 2009. Our business goals for 2009 are to grow the fee income for the company, and to continue to develop our business in Scotland and London. We intend to grow Contagious Digital and to launch Contagious TV for clients who want video content produced for the web and mobile phones.
