Carl Hopkins, former chairman of JDA is to become a non executive director of publishing and events company Carnyx Group, publisher of The Drum.

Hopkins has been agony uncle to The Drum since last year, and has now agreed to join the company with which he will spend one day a month providing it with his business knowledge and helping to oversee its development and growth.

Hopkins joined JDA in 1984 as a designer, working his way through the ranks before being named MD and eventually chairman following an MBO from founder Judith Donovan in 2000.

He sold the business last year but has invested in other business including creative recruitment firm Agencybods which he launched earlier this year.

Gordon Young, publisher for Carnyx, commented: “This is very exciting that we should have someone such as Carl Hopkins joining Carnyx and sharing his considerable knowledge and experience with the company’s existing directors.”
