Former Tayburn and Northcross directors, John Slater and Kay Smith launched their own design company, Agrada.

The two will continue to work in Edinburgh having done so for the last 25 years. They were previously directors at Tayburn before leaving to establish the Northcross Group.

Slater has previously been chairman of branding consultancy Tsuko before choosing to leave recently, while Smith had also previously been working with Tsuko before leaving to work on a freelance basis across a range of projects while creating the new agency.

It is thought that Slater will concentrate on helping clients business and design strategy while Smith will head up the creative aspect of the business.

“The decision to try to give something back by helping smaller to medium sized businesses is made easier by Agrada’s commitment to keep its overheads to a minimum,” explained Slater.

Smith continued: “We have designed and produced an exhibition stand for Cromlix House Hotel at the Wedding Show at the SECC, designed a members’ magazine for Archerfield Links through our ongoing relationship with Golf Publishing Ltd and we are working on a website for an engineering company, specialising in orbital welding and cutting equipment. We are also in the early stages of the creation of a new ‘high end’ internet retail brand for a client with ambitious plans to take the fashion world by storm.”
