Brian Greasley, the managing director of MediaCityUK, is to step down after just one year in the job.

Greaslet was appointed by Peel in November 2007 to create the vision for MediaCityUK and establish an implementation team, which he has successfully put in place, and he’s now looking forward to seeking new challenges.

For an interim period, Brian Greasley’s strategic responsibilities will be taken on by Andrew Simpson, group managing director of Peel Holdings, supported by the team of specialists already recruited by Peel Media.

Andrew Simpson said: “Over the last 12 months, Brian has done a first class job in setting out the vision for MediaCityUK and establishing a high-quality operational team. I would like to thank Brian personally for all his efforts and wish him well for the future.

“We will be seeking a replacement for Brian in due course who will focus on the next phase of the project, as well as implementing the ongoing programme of strengthening the MediaCityUK team.”

Peel Media is working with a range of partners to deliver one of the most ambitious developments in Europe, sited on 200 acres at Salford Quays on Manchester’s waterfront. In total, £500 million will be invested in phase one. The BBC, as anchor tenants, will be relocating five departments and 2,500 staff to MediaCityUK by 2011.
