Brand comms agency SASS has become the first external agency in the UK to be appointed by computer video games firm Electronic Arts (EA), as an extension to their creative studios.

SASS, which operates in Mere, Cheshire, was brought on board to assist with developing game graphics for Monopoly, EA and Hasbro’s latest high profile and top secret title launch, and is only the second company in the world that EA has outsourced high profile project work to.

The digital design team created seven unique graphical user interfaces for a series of themed environments within the Monopoly game, including ‘Future’, ‘Snowy Ice’ and ‘Jungle’. The game’s graphics allow players to unlock never-seen-before game boards as they move through the game.

EA is the world's leading independent developer and publisher of interactive entertainment and games software for console systems such as the PlayStation 3, the PlayStation 2, Xbox 360 and Nintendo Wii. EA’s casual gaming label, Bright Light Studios, approached SASS during a search to find an agency that could help develop superior illustration and graphical design to add an extra dimension for the new title. SASS was selected because of the agency’s previous experience in creating high-end graphics, as well as its wealth of knowledge of computer game graphics, such as 3D modelling and animation.

Graham Sass, managing and creative director at the agency comments: “EA’s creativity and game graphics make them a world leader in the industry. Their creative output is exceptional. Being selected as the first UK agency, and only the second in the world to work with them, demonstrates SASS’ design capabilities, creative excellence and hard-earned reputation for outstanding digital work.”
