DBA Scotland chairman expresses concern for The Lighthouse
The chairman of DBA Scotland has said that the possible loss of The Lighthouse – Scotland’s centre for architecture and design – would be a “backwards step” for UK design, following news that the centre may have to close as it faces a £300,000
The speculation follows the news – broken in The Drum – that funding for the Six City’s Design Festival, overseen by the Lighthouse, was to be scrapped under the SNP Government.
Keith Forbes, chairman of DBA Scotland, said: “The closure of The Lighthouse would be a major loss. Although there have been obvious problems, it is used to educate the public. If we take that away, it’s a backward step, especially when the creative industries sit among the few growth industries of the UK.”
