The Drum understands that Andrew Blackwell, creative director at AVC, has left the company to go freelance.

It is also understood that the role will not be replaced directly by the company.

Blackwell joined in February of this year having taken a voluntary redundancy package while working at SMG Commercial where he was commercial production manager.

Rhea Hussey, an account manager at PR Partnership, which is owned by AVC, has also departed to take up a role at rival Aberdeen PR agency, Fifth Ring.

Hussey will be replaced by Sarah Rochester who joins the company from London-based 24/7 Real Media.

Meanwhile, the company’s new £3m business centre was opened last Friday.

Spencer Buchan, director of AVC, commented: "The early autumn has seen some radical change yet again to our business with the unfortunate departure of Rhea Hussey from our PR Division to city rivals Fifth Ring. But I suppose in Rhea's case it's a compliment on how well we train and develop our team. Deciding to use Andrew Blackwell on a freelance basis was a joint decision that suits both parties and gives us the flexibility we need in our creative options."

Buchan continued: "This period has also shown fantastic expansion with the opening of our £3 million Business Centre, the news that a target acquisition for one of the city's most prominent 3D animation companies is a reality in early 2009 and the capture of both Sarah Rochester from 24/7 Media in London along with Penny George from the First Group shows you can always replace with better!"
