Shearings Holidays has appointed Chester-based agency Blacksheep to design its summer 2009 brochures following a competitive five-way pitch.

Aimed at the over 50s market, Shearings Holidays specialises in providing holidays throughout the UK and Europe and its brochures are a key selling tool.

Blacksheep's brief includes changing the perception that the travel firm only offers coach holidays, while retaining its existing consumer base. The agency will develop a new visual identity for the brochures covering UK & Ireland, Europe and River Cruises.

Fiona Greenhalgh, head of sales and marketing at Shearings Holidays, said the new look was about changing perceptions. “Blacksheep mirrored our thoughts strategically as to how we can reach out to a wider audience and delivered well-executed and engaging creative that will successfully dispel the misconception that Shearings ‘just does coaches’,” she said.

Blacksheep client services director, Kate Jones, added, “We are delighted that Shearings Holidays has chosen to work with Blacksheep on such a lynchpin project.”

The Shearings Group includes a chain of 49 hotels and eight high street travel shops selling a variety of holiday and travel-related services.
