Rock Radio Manchester has teamed up with Manchester Phoenix ice hockey club in a sponsorship deal which see the two building close commercial and consumer ties.

In the deal, 106.1 Rock Radio will play its mix of classic rock music and jingles promoting the station during the team's pre-game warm-up.

The backs of the team's shirts will also be emblazoned with the 106.1 Rock Radio logo, which the station hopes will help it achieve profile on TV outlets Phoenix TV, Channel M and Sky Sports, which all cover Phoenix matches.

Rock Radio station director, Joe Radcliffe, said of the deal: "This is a great tie-up as ice hockey is synonymous with rock music and with our resident Canadian, 'Moose,' heading up the Rock Radio presenting team this is a perfect match.

Manchester Phoenix managing director, Neil Morris, added: "The partnership with Rock Radio is going to be one that is really exciting as the synergy between Rock Radio & the Manchester Phoenix ice hockey team is very close. I know we are going to have a great time working together as both teams like to have fun - and they always get the job done."
