Imperial War Museum North has appointed Hemisphere to design its Woman War Artists exhibition which will run from February next year.

The exhibition will focus on the work created by woman artists during the First World War through to the Gulf War as a result of their experiences.

The Manchester based agency was appointed following a two-way pitch.

Grant Windridge, creative director for Hemisphere, explained: “Whilst the exhibition will address a number of themes, its core emphasis will be on illuminating the lives and careers of the artists themselves, many of whom were actually on the frontline in their role as officially-commissioned observers. Our design proposals aim to create an environment that is evocative of the gritty world the artists were working in and to help visitors understand the harsh reality of witnessing warfare up close.”

Hemisphere has also been appointed by the museum as a preferred supplier on two of its design rosters.
