Belkin, specialists in wireless technology, networking and laptop and iPod accessories, has appointed Lucre to handle its ongoing UK trade and consumer public relations activity.

The agency beat off competition from four other tech PR specialists to secure the blue-chip brand.

Lucre will implement a number of strategic platforms to promote Belkin's networking products and laptop@home assortment, as well as its new range of consumer electronics accessories for use with desktops, laptops and iPods.

Harold Smolders, PR manager EMEA at Belkin said: "The company has enjoyed exceptional growth over the last few years and now offers a diverse range of products that address real life situations integrated with next generation technology.

"To launch our range of new products in the UK we wanted to work with an agency that matched the high standards that we set."

Sophie Spyropoulos, director at Lucre, added: "This is a significant win for us because we appeared to be long shots, but managed to fight off a number of larger more established agencies, clearly demonstrating our growing reputation within the industry."
