McCann Erickson Manchester has confirmed that it will no longer be working with northern supermarket chain Booths.

The Preston-based firm kick-started a review of its advertising account earlier this summer, with four agencies, including incumbent McCann, shortlisted to pitch.

Now a McCann spokesperson has confirmed the exit of the account – although Booths is yet to announce a new appointment.

"We can confirm that we are parting company with Booths,” the McCann spokesperson said. “We wish them well with their chosen agency and hope there may be an opportunity to rekindle what has been an enjoyable and mutually beneficial relationship at some point in the future.”

The spokesperson added that McCann will continue to have a presence in the grocery retail sector, as the agency also handles the marketing account for the Aldi supermarket chain.

A spokesperson for Booths said that a formal announcement would be made next week.
