Following the news that independent paper manufacturer Curtis Fine Papers has gone into administration, with the loss of 180 jobs, it has been revealed that Glasgow-based print firm Beith Printing has also called in the liquidators.

Andrew Davison and Colin Dempster of Ernst & Young were appointed as Joint Receivers of Beith Printing Company Ltd on the 4th August 2008.

Based in Glasgow, the company’s principal activities were commercial and UV printing. As a result of a recent significant drop in customer orders, the company's directors have requested that the company be placed into receivership.

Following a review of the business, it was not financially viable to continue to trade. Unfortunately, it has therefore been necessary to make 45 of the workforce redundant. Six staff have been retained to assist the Receivers with their duties.

The Receivers are currently exploring the potential for a sale of the plant & equipment and freehold building as a production facility, which a buyer could commence trading from with immediate effect. In this regard, interest has already been expressed in the facility. Given the existence of a 6 colour double coater UV press, the Receivers believe that the facility may be particularly attractive to those seeking to break into the UV and plastics print markets.
