Glasgow-based Oceanseventy is set to evolve as MD Scott McBride moves to a global position in the Far East, with creative director and co-founder Alex Stewart taking the agency reins for a recruitment drive.

After six years at the helm of Oceanseventy, McBride will depart this month to take up the role of general manager at OgilvyOne Malaysia.

McBride stated: “I’m a bit of a born traveller and love Asia. With our extensive work with Frasers Hospitality in Singapore and London I felt the calling to go East. My new position at OgilvyOne is a phenomenal opportunity that I have fully embraced, however it has it sacrifices. I’ll dearly miss the team and clients at oceanseventy and I’m sad to see the end, for now, of a fantastic business and personal relationship with Alex. I’ll watch from the side lines as the agency grows from strength to strength”.

With both client and agency side experience McBride co-founded Oceanseventy with creative director Alex Stewart in 2002 seeing the agency grow with a range of UK and International business. Its most recent accolade came at the Roses Advertising Awards 2008, scooping two awards for its Christmas viral campaign.

McBride leaves the agency in position of strength with two significant new business wins, the rebrand of Aberlour Children’s Charity, won after a six-way pitch, and business repositioning material for TRS the UK's leading cellular post-sales specialist and Europe's largest 3G mobile phone repair company.

Stewart commented: “We will all be sorry to see Scott go, he’ll be missed by clients and staff for his quick business thinking and dry sense of humour. On a personal note I wish him all the best and hope he gets the opportunity to stretch his wings, enjoy the experience and hope that the Malaysians understand his Ulster drawl.”
