STV has announced that it has appointed Hari Farzin as its new head of marketing following the departure of Gordon Brown.

The company confirmed that Farzin has taken up the role vacated by Brown following the end of his contract.

Farzin joined the company in 2006 as E-Commerce manager working alongside Brown in the marketing team.

Farzin said; "I am looking forward to leading the excellent marketing team at stv and fully exploiting the opportunities for the stv brand in what I'm sure will be an exciting time for the business."

Although Brown has now left the company for which he was acting mainly as a consultant on a part time basis through his company, Circuit Break over his three years there, a spokesperson for STV has confirmed that it still plans to work with him in the future ‘on individual projects.’

Brown told The Drum; “Working with STV was great. I was originally brought in by Bobby Hain in early 2006 to help re-brand the Grampian TV and Scottish TV brands and launch the new stv brand. Things progressed from there and I was asked to set up the marketing plans for 2007 and 2008 and run the marketing dept on a contract basis. I'm proud of the work that was done over this period and I think the company is in a good place going forward but I never intended to become full time in STV and by mutual agreement I finished up in May.”

Meanwhile, Rob Woodward, chief executive of STV has outlined plans for a deal worth at least £15million a year with the BBC, using public money for an archive channel featuring both STV and licensed BBC content.
