Post production house 422 Manchester has appointed visual effects and design expert John Sharp as its new creative director.

Sharp has a background of directing special effects and has worked with film, broadcast and commercial clients for the last 16 years. His feature film portfolio has included work as a compositor on 2001’s Hannibal and Bond filick Die Another Day and as a 2D artist on X-Men: The Last Stand from 2006. He recently completed a job as visual effects supervisor on Nutcracker: The Untold Story.

Richard Wallwork, production director at 422 Manchester, said: “We feel that having John on board will strengthen our output and give us further possibilities to attract new business, across all areas. John is like the final piece in our ‘creative jigsaw’.”

The agency promise that Sharp will have a ‘hands-on’ role with his team.

“John’s extensive portfolio of work means he will feel comfortable being involved with either ‘high end’ post-production, commercial work or ‘creative’ broadcast graphic sequences,” the spokesman added.

“He has an appreciation of financial realities and will gladly storyboard sequences or attend/direct visual-effects shoots. This in turn will give him an edge, should he be called upon to direct 422’s team of talented in-house creatives.”
