Roy Powell, the former global chief operating officer for WPP’s The Brand Union, is set to join Golley Slater as the group’s new executive group finance director.

Powell is best know for his association with Saatchi’s acquisition of the Ted Bates advertising network and the creation of the Zenith media-buying operation in the UK, during his time as European finance director of Saatchi & Saatchi Plc.

Since acquiring Golley Slater in 2003, Chris Lovell, CEO, has made no secret of his ambitious plans.

“Roy joins Golley Slater at a pivotal time in our evolution”, said Lovell. “Roy’s appointment will further strengthen our credibility in the sector”.

Since Lovett took over, the group’s turnover has risen to £50m. Golley Slater has also made London its head office, although it continues to have a strong presence in Cardiff - its former headquarters. It’s at the South Wales base where Powell will be based.

“Golley Slater is an ambitious business and I’m looking forward to the challenge of helping Chris and the team realise their ambitions”, said Powell.

Golley Slater has 11 offices based around the UK.
