Strathclyde Passenger Transport has announced that is has re-appointed The Bridge to its marketing account following a marathon seven month tendering process.

That advert attracted 17 tenders, according to a tender report which has now been published. Of those one missed the application deadline, and the rest were rated across a number of criteria including quality. On that basis Golley Slater, Merle, Bray Leino and The Bridge were brought into the next stage which involved assessment by SPT’s procurement officer Robert Freel alongside external contracts consultant Eddie Regan.

The Bridge came in with the lowest estimated annual cost of £141,742.

Bob Wylie, director of communications for SPT, explained that the process took so long as it was conducted under the terms of the newly introduced European procurement process.

Wylie also made clear that Amanda Anderson, who joined SPT from The Bridge in December as head of marketing, was not involved in the selection process.

The Bridge has been re-appointed to the account on a three year contract with an option to extend by an additional two years.

SPT is currently still undergoing its tender process to select a media buying agency.

Meanwhile, The Bridge has launched a new drive for The Blood Transfusion Service. The agency has filmed four adverts using the line ‘It’s not someone else they’re talking to. It’s you.’
