Rippleffect has followed its acquisition by Trinity Mirror with the announcement that Arsenal Football Club has appointed the firm.

Rippleffect managing director, Ben Hatton and his father, Derek Hatton, are understood to own around 80 per cent of the business, which formed in 1999.

Ben Hatton commented: “Trinity Mirror shares our working ethos and its expertise and experience will promote national growth and success for Rippleffect.”

Trinity Mirror has said the acquisition will allow the firm to diversify its digital revenue streams alongside its print offerings, with Rippleffect expected to generate £3.2million in revenue in its first year of new ownership.

The Arsenal appointment adds to Rippleffect’s wealth of experience in the sport, leisure and retail sector, which is understood to have played a key part in Trinity Mirror’s decision to acquire the firm as it looks to strengthen its Sport Media business – publishers of a range of titles such as the matchday programmes of Liverpool and Everton football clubs.

Rippleffect will relaunch the club’s website – www.arsenal.com – which receives close to 40 million page visits per month. Initial responsibilities will include the redevelopment of the back and front-end of its website, provision of a new content management system and the improvement of site usability and data capture.

Richard Glover, operations manager at Arsenal Broadband Ltd, said: “Over the last five years Arsenal has continually embraced new digital technologies to communicate with fans, drive revenues and promote the club’s brand. The partnership with Rippleffect gives us the opportunity to continue this growth online.”
