The Chip Shop Awards are back to recognise the meanest, badest and bestest work in town. (Warning: News Clip Contains Swearing)

For the Chip Shops have no rules. Unlike events such as D&AD, which are pre-occupied with whether or not the work is real (bah), is for an actual client (hurumph), is decent (dull), all the Chip Shops worry about is whether or not the work is any good (hurrah!).

It categories include Best Use of Bad Taste, Ad for a Client You Do Not Actually Have and Best Use of Plagiarism. But as well as being fun, it also has a serious side. The event is about identiyfing fresh new talent, or old stale talent, that has simply not yet had the opportunity to shine. It also has a serious panel which this year is chaired by Michael Wolff from Michael Wolff & Company.

Joining him is Dean Webb from The Red Brick Road, Sarah Roberts from Lewis Moberly, John Jessup from Leo Burnett, Garry Blackburn from Rose and Nick Finney from NB Studio.

The event is also developing an international reputation. Even Simon Waterfall, this year's president of D&AD said; "I fucking love the Chip Shops."

So in the words of one non-D&AD winning campaign this is your chance to 'Rise and Shine.' To do so register at www.chipshipawards.com.
