Navyblue closes Leeds office
Edinburgh-based Navyblue Design has closed its Leeds office, just one year after opening, following the departure of one of its design directors.
Chairman Phil Jones admitted that opening in Leeds was a gamble, taking advantage of an opportunity that arose when staff based in Edinburgh relocated to Leeds.
“It was more about individuals and people and trying to work something around them, rather than needing to be in Leeds,” he said.
“The Leeds office was opportunistic because there were clients who looked as though they could be best served from that area. Since then, looking at the overall structure of the business and where the work has gone, there was no real strategic reason to be in Leeds.”
Jones said the closure will result in nominal redundancies of support and administration staff.
Brian Minards, who was hired as managing director from Leeds University, left Navyblue in October and earlier this month joined Ideas Group.
