BJL co-founder Trevor Lorains has died suddenly aged 56. It is understood that Lorains died after collapsing at the gym on Wednesday. He held an active role at BJL despite handing over his MD reigns at the Manchester-based agency to Nicky Unsworth a year ago.

Unsworth paid tribute to Lorains, describing him as a close family man and saying he had acted as a mentor to her at BJL.

Lorains was a founding partner in the launch of BJL 20 years ago. The other two partners, Michael Barrington and Stephen Johnson, left the agency in an MBO in 2004, but Lorains remained and had until recently held a part-time role.

He leaves behind wife Annette and two daughters, Nicki and Claire.

A book of condolence has been setup for those wishing to leave a message.
