The Gate Films, has launched an online forum for advertising creatives to develop programming and film ideas with a view to getting them commissioned.

The Gate Lab, launching this month, offers creatives the opportunity to share ideas with peers in a secure forum and collaborate to develop them ready for being pitched to programme makers.

The idea came from TV, film and non-broadcast media channels failing to tap into the creative minds working within the advertising industry.

Simon Lewis, The Gate’s managing director, said: “I can’t think of any advertising creatives that don’t have ideas for TV shows, comedies, films, short-films, etc, and very often they’ve already written the scripts. Some of this country’s most talented writers are working in agencies and programmers are missing out.”

The Gate will invite a select number of agency people to use the site, while others are welcome to apply for membership.

The full interview can be read in The Drum’s 25 January issue
