Impossible Pictures moves into Manchester with Firestep acquisition

Independent television production company, Impossible Pictures, is expanding into the north after acquiring Manchester-based animation firm, Firestep.

Firestep was co-founded by animation talents Steve Maher and Jonathan Doyle. The company is best known for its work on ‘The Infinite Quest’, an animated Dr Who adventure for the BBC.

Impossible Pictures produces both advertising work and TV content and following its expansion now plans to also target factual and drama content production as well as tapping opportunities in the children’s market.

Commenting on the acquisition, Impossible Pictures\' managing director, Jonathan Drake, who will also chair the Firestep board, said: \"This is an important stage in the development of our business, which is based firmly on creativity and the ability to bring innovation and ambition to everything we do.”

Jonathan Doyle, added: “Impossible’s commitment to Firestep’s continuing growth within the North West was hugely attractive and we are all focused on building a vibrant creative business firmly rooted in the region.”
