Glasgow-based agency Red Cell, part of the WPP group, has confirmed that it is to close its doors at the end of this month.

Simon McQuarrie, managing director of Red Cell, confirmed the move, blaming it largely on the loss of the Cala Homes account earlier this year.

Employees at Red Cell have either moved with the client or have been made redundant.

In August the Scottish residential developer announced that it had undertaken ‘a strategic review’ and that it was to move its £1m advertising creative account to Manchester’s Clear Marketing, having worked with Red Cell for the previous six years.

McQuarrie said: “The move is very disappointing. However, something new and exciting will emerge in the New Year.”
