Birmingham-based Haslimann Taylor has been appointed to handle a consumer PR brief for new rail franchise CrossCountry Trains.

The PR agency is supporting the launch of the train franchise, highlighting the vast network of routes available to travellers and aiming to drive traffic to the company’s website.

CrossCountry, operated by Arriva, took over the cross country rail franchise in November, combining routes previously occupied by Virgin CrossCountry and some Central Trains services. Covering 1,500 route miles, it is the UK\'s most extensive rail network franchise.

Simon Green, who led brand and marketing work for CrossCountry, said: “By showing people how many journey opportunities are possible, and encouraging greater use of our website where many cheap fares are available, we see this campaign as key to growing our business.”

In other news, Haslimann Taylor has been retained by the Standard Soap Company following a successful three month project that launched the company’s first own brand product, Silvatec.

The agency’s PR plan included a national survey to target markets and an intensive media relations campaign to highlight the infection-fighting properties of the Silvatec cleansing bar.

Haslimann Taylor director, Dan Clifford, said: “Our work will continue to support Silvatec in educating people about the importance of minimising the risk of infection, assisting the brand’s campaign for its use in hospitals across the country.”
