McCann Erickson Communications House in Birmingham has launched a new arm to the company that will be based in London.

Formed as a joint initiative with McCann Erickson London, the operation will look to focus on second tier marketing and budgets under £3m. The agency is geared up to work with clients that require the fast turnaround, traditionally associated with agencies outside of M25, but which prefer to have their account handled in London.

The agency, which will be known as McCann Response, will share offices with McCann Erickson London and report into the team in Birmingham.

Dean Lovett, chief executive of the Birmingham-based agency, described the new operation as being “the best of both worlds” for clients.

“McCann Response provides clients with the opportunity to work with a top 10 agency, but with all the pragmatic benefits of working with a regional supplier.”

He also revealed that McCann Response has already secured a major piece of business, which the agency would look to announce shortly. Lovett also said the operation was in talks with two other prospective clients.

Lovett said an announcement on who would be heading up the team in the New Year could be expected in the coming weeks.

The Birmingham-based agency has added over 40 new staff over the last 12 months in response to new business success, which has included Coventry Building Society, Jardine Lloyd Thompson and Bravissimo.
