John Hamlin, co-founder of Hamlin Daniels, has resigned as a director and shareholder in the Edinburgh-based agency.

Hamlin will launch a brand consultancy service, while Tracy Daniels will now take sole ownership of the design and advertising business, which was formed four years ago when it rebranded from Marque Design.

Hamlin launched Marque Design with Frances Brown, however when Brown left the business and Daniels joined, the agency – which currently employs three staff – changed its name to Hamlin Daniels.

The agency’s highest profile client over this period was Scottish Widows, which Hamlin enjoyed a ten-year relationship with developing the brand.

“I have decided to offer a small but intensive brand design consultancy service,” said Hamlin.

“This, I believe, will fulfill a requirement which clearly exists, for individual consultants like myself to work closely with a limited number of clients, both large and small, helping them to redefine and develop their brands successfully and cost effectively.”

Hamlin previously worked at Hull-based Marketing Design with clients that included Seven Seas, Dettol and Elastoplast.
