Aegon UK has appointed Story to its agency roster as it retains its media buyer following a series of pitches across the company.

The Drum has learned that London-based Ptarmigan Media has been retained by Aegon.

According to the company, the decision to remain with Ptarmigan was on the basis of its expertise and buying power in the specialist financial services trade.

Meanwhile, Story has won the pitch to handle the company’s direct marketing, digital marketing and point of sale work.

Story’s brief is to target financial advisers and consumers, promoting pensions, investment and protection services.

It is thought that the company has yet to conduct a digital media review which will go to pitch soon.

The company recently appointed a new marketing manager, Steve Clode, previously of Nationwide.

Aegon’s asset management division has, meanwhile, announced that Teamspirit has won the business after a five-way pitch.

Teamspirit has been tasked with developing Aegon Asset Management’s strategic positioning, developing new advertising campaigns and “creative overlaying” of company’s brand values.

Following the pitch, the Asset Management marketing team went through a restructure, which saw Gary Latimer, head of marketing communications and Paul Fitzmaurice, marketing communications manager take redundancy, while Irene Brodie, previously head of marketing also left “by mutual consent.” Peter Foster was been appointed as interim head of marketing, having previously had 24 years marketing experience in the fund management arena.
