Glasgow-based 999 Design Group has unveiled ambitious plans for growth over the next three years, which includes an aggressive acquisition strategy and doubling turnover to more than £7m.

Founders Bill Gaughan and Richard Bissland have outlined their vision to take the group to the top 10 of the national league table of UK agencies by 2010.

They have cited organic growth of 20 percent year on year and the expansion of the firm's digital design capability as the key factors which will drive 999 forward.

Gaughan and Bissland plan to step back from the day-to-day handling of accounts and focus instead on the strategic development of the company, including plans to acquire a new digital operation - either a division of an existing agency or an entire consultancy.

The partners are already actively pursuing potential digital business acquisitions that will start them on the road to achieving their goal. Initially they plan to invest up to £1m on growing their existing digital operation.

999 reported turnover of £3.6m for the 12 months to April 30, 2007 and has forecast £4.3m for the end of the 2007/08 financial year. The founders aim to grow this turnover to more than £7m by 2010.

Bissland said: "Over the last three years we have put the infrastructure in place, with the introduction of managing directors and key senior appointments in each of our offices, to allow Bill and I to step back from the day-to-day running of the business."
