Cousins Furniture Store is believed to have appointed a West Midlands-based agency to handle its £2million advertising account.

The Oldbury-based firm has previously managed advertising in-house, centring on a core of TV, press advertising and direct marketing coverage, but it now appears to have tasked out to a local agency.

Cousins MD Robert Shotton has remained tight-lipped on the appointment, but a source at the furniture specialist’s West-Midlands base suggested an appointment had been made or was imminent, but would not divulge the agency’s identity.

Industry sources have speculated that either Golley Slater or Connect Advertising have won the business, but both have been ruled out of the running by the furniture company.

The family-run Cousins Furniture Store business is one of the biggest independent furniture retailers in the country, employing 110 staff. Cousins has recently opened a new flagship store in Manchester.
