Third Eye Design has made two senior appointments as it continues its growth following its appointment by The Macallan.

Third Eye Design has been appointed as branding consultants to the whisky brand, working with the Edrington group to drive it forward and reinforce its position in the marketplace.

The agency was appointed without a pitch and will now be responsible for communications work on the brand, usage shots and other brand collateral including printed literature, exhibitions and point of sale.

The Macallan will work with Third Eye Design across all of its three offices in Glasgow, London and New York.

The agency will work now alongside communications agency Shop and packaging specialists, Design Bridge.

Ken Grier, director of Malts at Edrington, said: “We have found in Third Eye Design, a Scottish agency that truly understands luxury and The Macallan’s positioning in a global marketplace. We have already benefited from the insight and global outlook of Third Eye Design on a number of special projects and are excited about growing The Macallan brand together.”

The design firm’s most recent appointments include David Boyle, who has been drafted in to spearhead the agency’s financial development.

Formerly of London-based design consultancy SAS, Boyle was part of the financial team that saw substantial growth for the company, eventually resulting in the consultancy recently being sold for an undisclosed amount – estimated to be between eight and 10 million pounds.

The Glasgow studio also sees the appointment of Nick Tweedie as senior designer.

Tweedie joins Third Eye from Value and Service and has previously held posts at Made Thought and Farrow Design.
