The Scottish Government has announced that Roger Goldie will become its new chief marketing manager.

Roger Williams, marketing director at The Scottish Government made the announcement on Friday.

Said Williams, “I’m pleased to confirm that Roger Goldie has been appointed to the post of chief marketing manager, vacated by Chris Dempsey last June.”

Goldie recently joined the Government on a short term contract and earlier this year worked as a communications co-ordinator in support of the Youth Justice Improvement programme.

Goldie, a veteran of the Scottish agency scene, has worked at Marr Associates, Ogilvie and Mather, The Leith Agency, Newhaven, and laterally, Civic from which he joined the Executive on secondment.

He is to take on the role of chief marketing manager after a search that took several months to complete.

Many have said that the appointment has come as a surprise, however, most have welcomed the move.

Meanwhile The Drum understands that the decision over the Scottish Government’s media account has now come down to three agencies, thought to be Feather Brooksbank, MediaVision and MediaCom with the final pitching process imminent.
