Dinosaur has developed an advertising and poster campaign for Alton Towers’ Halloween Scarefest event, which runs from 13 October until 4 November.

With Halloween celebrations in the UK fast matching those in the US, the park decided not to run its traditional end of season firework display, instead choosing to stage a three-week Halloween-themed event.

The Manchester-based agency was tasked with developing a campaign to tie-in with Scarefest that would be appealing to families and thrill seekers alike, also creating a brand new park map for the occasion.

Dinosaur’s creative director, Mark Beaumont, said: “This was the first time we had the opportunity to control the photography on a project for Alton Towers, which meant we could finally produce a campaign that represented the Alton Towers brand in 2007. The idea was to create three main concepts that had varying levels of scariness, but that all had an edginess to them – we wanted it to be Freddy Krueger meets Scooby Doo.”

Dinosaur has worked with Alton Towers since 2005, when it was appointed official ‘creative think tank’. The campaign will feature on press adverts, DM and a range of on-park materials.
