An Agency Called England has announced the appointment of its first managing director, with the arrival of Richard Midgley.

Midgley joins from Principles where he held the role of client services director.

Midgley commented: “I am really pleased to have made the move to such a creative agency. England has some great clients and we need to build on this solid base with more big brands that appreciate the creativity we have to offer and the results it can achieve.”

The agency has also announced the promotion of creatives Paul Alexander and Jerry Gross to advertising creative director and deputy creative director, respectively.

The pair, which joined the agency two years ago, have been the defacto directorship for the advertising department since the departure of creative director Dave Lambert in 2005.
