Following a competitive pitch, public relations consultancy Weber Shandwick has secured the PR account for U¯kio bankas, to promote its entry into the UK banking sector.

The bank’s first branch will be located in Edinburgh, traditionally one of the UK’s strongest financial services locations, and home to a growing Eastern European population.

U¯kio bankas, Lithuania's oldest private bank – owned by Vladimir Romanov, controlling shareholder of Hearts of Midlothian FC – currently operates from 12 branches in Lithuania and offices in the Ukraine, Russia and Kazakhstan.

The consultancy will deliver a full-service public relations and public affairs programme for the bank as it extends its presence into the UK.

U¯kio bankas, which also sponsors Hearts FC, is expected to open its first UK branch in Edinburgh's city centre later this year.
