Scottish Widows has denied reports that it is to review its direct marketing account, only a year after it appointed both WWAV Rapp Collins Edinburgh and Team Spirit.

Both agencies were appointed to the company’s roster just a year ago, however, following the departure of Jane Ulke, managing director at WWAV Rapp Collins Edinburgh, it was reported that Scottish Widows wished to review.

A spokesperson for Scottish Widows said that these reports were false and that it had no intention of reviewing its business. WWAV confirmed that Mike Hoban, director of customer and brand marketing for Scottish Widows had said that no such move was to take place.

The announcement will be reassuring for WWAV’s new management team, which was announced last week.

The new structure will see three of the senior team at the agency promoted to the role of co-managing partner, with Patrick Norrie installed as head of creativity and innovation, Mandi Taylor becoming head of marketing and planning and Rebecca Peel taking the role as head of client services. Norrie recently joined from the London office, where he was head of copy and creative director of the company’s consumer health division.

Taylor has worked at the Edinburgh office since 2004, joining from the company’s recently defunct Leeds office. She has also had spells at London-based Proximity, Ogilvy and Mather and Triangle. Peel recently returned to WWAV Edinburgh from 1576.

Marco Scognamiglio, former MD of WWAV Edinburgh and now chairman of the WWAV Rapp Collins group commented on the restructure: “The agency has a proud heritage of delivering insight driven, highly creative marketing solutions and I’m confident this new structure will not only see the agency maintain its marketing leadership but drive it on to new heights.”

Edinburgh-based 60 Watt has been appointed by Guilty, the designer clothes boutique, to create a relaunch campaign for the brand. The chain, recently taken over by Denholm Associates owner, Nicki Denholm, has been rebranded by Nevis, with a new campaign to run in style magazines created by 60 Watt.

The campaign, shot by Euan Myles, features the headline “It doesn’t make you a bad person” and is due to launch in September. Denholm now plans to “significantly” grow the franchise over the coming years.

Speaking of the campaign Iain Hawk, creative director at 60 Watt, said: “Nicki’s plans for Guilty are exciting and she’s well known for her ability to spot a great ad.”
