Jane Wood, head of public affairs for retail giant Alliance Boots in Scotland, has been given a remit to deal with the Government in Northern Ireland, as the two governments seek to develop closer links.

An Alliance Boots spokesman said that with a new legislative assembly in place in Northern Ireland the firm needed to engage with ministers and members of the assembly as it does in England, Scotland and Wales. Wood is a leading figure within public affairs in Scotland. As well as her role at Boots she chairs Fusion Assets, the publicprivate regeneration company for North Lanarkshire, is deputy chair of the Scottish Retail Consortium and sits on the CBI Scotland Council.
