Cala Homes has appointed Manchester-based Clear Marketing as its new advertising creative agency after ending its relationship with the Glasgow office of network agency Red Cell.

The Edinburgh-based residential developer, which is thought to hold an advertising budget of around £1million, had worked with Red Cell for the past six years but has chosen Clear to drive forward its strategic branding and marketing activity.

As a result, Clear will be setting up an Edinburgh office to manage creative work for Cala’s five operating companies in Scotland, Yorkshire, the Midlands and the southeast of England from October.

Claire Erskine, group marketing manager for Cala Group, said: “This was a difficult decision to make, as we have enjoyed a good relationship with Red Cell over the past six years and I would like to thank them for all their hard work. However, we are looking forward to working with Clear to take our strategic branding and marketing activity to the next level.”

The appointment will not affect the firm’s media business, which is held by Space and Time Media.

Meanwhile, Clear has also created a new £2million advertising campaign for electronics giant Brother UK, after being appointed to the firm’s agency roster.

The Tell Your Boss He’s A Loser press and outdoor campaign has been developed to promote the Manchester-based firm’s core range of mono printers.

Manchester-based BDH\\TBWA, which has traditionally handled Brother’s major above-the-line activity, is understood to have been retained as lead agency. Brother is now believed to be handing out briefs to the agencies on a project-by-project basis.

Clear is also expected to retain its Airtours contract with MyTravel, following its merger with Thomas Cook earlier this year. The deal to create the £8billion travel company is understood to have involved a restructure of the two marketing departments.
