Tangerine wins six-way pitch for Dulux contract

Following a six-way competitive pitch, Manchester-based Tangerine PR & Coaching has been selected by Dulux Decorator Centres (DDC) as its new national trade and consumer PR consultancy partner.

Tangerine has taken on seven new staff to help with the six-figure contract. Its client base currently includes Weightwatchers, ex-heavyweight champ and grill-meister George Foreman, Manchester Solutions and Rosebys.

Part of the ICI group, DDC has nearly 200 stores nationwide. The firm is now looking to widen and increase the audience of the brand, and has engaged Tangerine to raise its market profile.

Part of Tangerine’s brief is to increase the profile of the group’s stores to the public, as well as potential trade partners. The remit also includes PR support for a store opening programme, and activity to increase footfall during key in-store events.

Beverley Whitehead, PR and communications manager at DDC, said, “We have some very ambitious targets for 2007 and beyond, and are very excited to have Tangerine on board to help us.

“Tangerine’s excellent knowledge of all of our audiences, its extensive knowledge of the trade and retail sector, combined with its excellent media contacts will really help us achieve our objectives.”

Tangerine associate director Malin Cunningham said: “This is a really prestigious win for the agency – it’s a great addition to our trade and consumer portfolio and the team is looking forward to helping DDC meet its business objectives.”

Meanwhile, Tangerine has been appointed by System One Travelcards, Greater Manchester’s multi-operator public transport travel card, to develop a social media campaign encourage students and young people to use flexible bus travel.

The campaign will focus on web-based social networking and be supported by direct activity.

As a result of Tangerine’s recent new busines success, the agency has made seven new hirings across the team.
