Xfm has announced the appointment of former SAGA 105.2FM sales director, Pamela Richardson.

Richardson replaces Liz Hamilton, Xfm’s former sales and commercial director who left the station in March as part of a restructuring process following the appointment of the station’s new managing director, Alan Gibson.

Before entering radio, Richardson worked with Gibson at STV where she was business development manager before moving to work for the unsuccessful application for a Glasgow license for Absolute Radio.

Richardson was recruited to help launch SAGA 105.2FM, the eventual winner of the Glasgow licence, but was made redundant in March following the takeover by GMG, which rebranded the station as Smooth FM.

In April, Richardson worked on a consultancy basis with Xfm, but has now been appointed as head of sales permanently, taking up the post in August.

Meanwhile, as reported in the previous issue of The Drum; Agnes Cassells, sales director at Real Radio, who took up much of Richardson’s role in sales at Smooth FM, left the company ‘to spend more time with her family’.
