Third Eye Design has announced its intention to expand its global reach further following the appointment of Joe Burrin.

The brand consultancy, which already boasts studios in Glasgow, London and New York, has made the appointments to help achieve the goal of adding further international offices over the next 18 months – with the west coast of the US and Asia pin-pointed as likely areas.

Burrin, who previously held the dual role of senior designer and art director at London design agency Spin, joins Third Eye Design’s London studio this month.

Burrin will work closely with the existing board to explore and ultimately head up the creative team at the new location.

He has worked for a raft of high-profile clients including Nike, Adidas, Haunch of Venison, Tate and ICA and is regarded as one of the brightest creative talents around.

The move follows a period of change at the agency, which has seen a number of employees leave the Glasgow-based HQ. Former creative director Kenny Allan left the agency in May to join The Hub as creative director. Stewart Drummond, Third Eye’s marketing and PR manager has also moved to rival firm Stand, along with 2005’s Young Designer of the Year Claudia Chase, and last year’s Young Designer of the Year, Oskar Kron, has joined Skratch in Glasgow.

Meanwhile, Hoss Gifford, who has been working with Third Eye Design in a part-time non-exec capacity, has joined the company fulltime in the role of digital creative director to spearhead the five-strong digital team.

The move ends Gifford’s relationship with a number of other agencies, including Stand, where he previously held office space.

Group MD, Mark Noe, said: “We have gone through a period of phenomenal change with the opening of new offices and major new client wins. Our ambitions have also changed from not just trying to be the best in Scotland but trying to create one of the best design teams in the world.”
