Glasgow-based agency O-Street has created the new branding for the Edinburgh International Film Festival (EIFF).

The agency – run by David Freer and Neil Wallace – won the three-year contract in February, after fending off competition from Edinburgh’s Various and GRP in Glasgow.

“We wanted to bring a cinematic feeling back to the EIFF brand,” said David Freer. “To achieve that, we have emphasised the word ‘film’ in the logotype and redrawn the star element with light and long exposure photography.”

O Street worked with Edinburgh-based photographer Peter Dibdin to create the new photographs and a stop frame animated cinema advert.

The trailer is a creative highlight of the campaign. The advert will be screened at cinemas around the UK from next week.

O-Street also worked with Line in Edinburgh to create the new website, which this year has a second URL www.enlighteningcinema.com, to tie it in with the new brand direction.
