Scottish Media Group has signalled its intention to concentrate on building television as a key component of its business, following an uncertain few years of operating.

At this year’s AGM, which took place last week, group chairman Richard Findlay said it was the board’s intention to build the strength of its TV output, something which had “been neglected for far too long.”

The newly installed board criticised the past management of the group, with Rob Woodward, the new chief executive at SMG, saying that the company will look to engage an audience in Scotland.

The company could decide to rid itself of VIrgin Radio, which enjoyed an eight percent rise in revenure, as the station could raise in the region of £80million for SMG.

However, the sale of Primesite has been cancelled at present, despite having two interested potential buyers.

SMG is expected to announce turnaround plans by the end of June.
