PR stalwart Martin takes on chairmanship

One of the best known and respected names in the PR industry in Scotland – Flora Martin – is to join Platform PR.

Martin, former boss of Citigate Smarts in Edinburgh is to become chairman, working alongside managing director Jane Cumming, who established the business in 2002.

Platform PR’s original north-based business won the CIPR Scotland Consultancy of the Year Awards in 2004 and 2005 and expanded into the central belt just over a year ago following a merger with Edinburgh-based PR Squared.

Martin, who left Citigate Smarts in 2004, won an Outstanding Achievement Award from the CIPR in 2005.

Platform’s Cumming, said: “We are honoured that Flora has agreed to join the company. We feel we have a great deal in common – our passion for high standards and our entrepreneurial spirit. The combination should be of great benefit to our clients and our staff.”

Martin commented: “I have huge admiration for Jane and her team – indeed there are a lot of similarities between Platform PR and the early years of Flora Martin PR.”
